  • Creatures Great & Small Pet Services began February 15, 2003 with a passion for animals! While providing excellent care for our clients’ pets, we’re able to help animals in need.  

    My name is Nickee Mixon. My husband, Tony, and I are the co-owners/operators of Creatures Great and Small.  We have always loved animals and have experience with a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, horses, birds, goats, rabbits, and orphaned wildlife. We have been volunteers at a local animal shelter and have many pets of  own. We provide the same high quality care for others’ pets that we provide for our own.

  • We pet sit for dogs, cats, & other creatures, dog walk/run, provide overnight pet sitting and house sit. We are not a pet boarding service nor an animal shelter. We do not sell animals.

  • CGS is located in Jacksonville, FL.  We provide services in Southside, Tinseltown, Gate Parkway, Intracoastal West, San Marco, and Downtown. We may be able to serve some other areas for a higher fee.


  • CGS is licensed as a business in the city of Jacksonville. CGS has liability insurance and we are bonded. Because there is no licensing procedure specifically for pet sitters, it is very important for pet owners to check a potential pet sitter’s qualifications, experience, and references!

  • For new clients, payment for the New Client Meeting/Meet & Greet and the initially scheduled visits is due at the New Client Meeting. For future appointments, please leave the payment on the counter for pick up at the first visit or pay through Paypal before the first visit. The PayPal link is located on the right side of each page of our site as well as on the “Schedule & Pay” page.  The holiday weekends for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and  all overnight visits require non-refundable prepayment. These reservations aren’t final until the fee is received.
    There is a $25 fee for all returned checks.
    There is a $2.50 late fee per visit when payment is not received by the first visit.

    Please enter as much detailed info as possible, including instructions for your home, pet & vet info, and emergency contacts. Each pet will have his/her own page of care instructions. This information will allow us to match the best primary and back up sitters to your family. We appreciate detailed information re your pets’ care, so we can provide the care they are used to and you expect.
    After receiving the information, Nickee will contact you to set up an initial meeting.

    The New Client Meeting/Meet & Greet should take about 30 minutes and it’s purpose is for us to get acquainted with each other, pick up 2 keys to your home, collect the fees for the meeting &  scheduled visits, and review/sign our service contract. We are unable to confirm pet visits until we have collected 2 house keys, any needed gate passes or codes, and payment for the meeting and visits.

  • You decide how often your pets will receive visits. Dogs usually need two to three visits per day. Cats usually require one visit per day. We don’t visit cats less than every other day. Pets with special needs or those on schedules may require more visits, which can be added. Specific times aren’t guaranteed; however, we’ll ask your preferred times and do our best to honor them. This constraint is in place to allow for unavoidable circumstances that may arise at another client’s home and/or difficulty in travel.

  • The “Key Program” allows CGS to securely hold a key to your home. It saves the fee we charge for picking up  and returning keys and adds convenience. If pet parents are late returning, we will still have the keys to return to care for their pets which wouldn’t be the case if we had locked the keys inside the home. We are also able to help out those who lock themselves out of their homes- just give us a call and for a $15 fee, we’ll come over and open your door. If we don’t keep your key, there is a $10 fee for each key exchange. If we don’t provide service for one year, we safely discard keys.

  • All fees are non-refundable, however, a non-transferable credit will be issued by CGS and held on file for one year when at least 24 hours notice is given for a pet sit and daily dog walks are cancelled by at least 8 a.m. Fees for visits on holidays/holiday weekends and overnights are forfeited by the client. 

  • We offer a referral discount. Current clients can earn one free 30 minute service by referring a new client to us.
    CGS is active in rescue and has a monthly “Awareness Day” to benefit specific animals in need, organizations, or sometimes our human friends. We love people, too!
